Welcome to Lemonade Day Austin

What is Lemonade Day?

Lemonade Day is a FUN, FREE, community wide, educational initiative where KIDS learn to start, own and operate their own business.

Kids of all ages learn to set goals, develop a business plan, establish a budget, seek investors, provide customer service, and give back to their community.

Lemonade Day is Simple

  • First, kids register, with a caring adult, and receive a bright yellow backpack that contains an informational workbook for the child and the caring adult. These books will outline the steps necessary to have a successful lemonade stand.
  • Sunday, May 2, 2010 is the "official" Lemonade Day. Each young entrepreneur will set up their lemonade stand and sell, sell, sell their lemonade!
  • Finally, and best of all the young entrepreneurs will get to keep the money they make!

Community Event

  • Lemonade Day involves the entire community.
  • We partner with Youth Organizations, Schools, Churches and Businesses to register kids for Lemonade Day and to help distribute backpacks.
  • Volunteers are needed to stuff backpacks, distribute the backpacks, and to sign kids up at numerous events throughout Austin.
  • Sponsors and Donors are needed to help with the costs.
  • Customers buying lemonade is another great way to help out.

Lessons Learned

Positive Youth Development
Your involvement to help youth set up lemonade stands and complete the 14 Steps to Success, which is part of the Lemonade Day educational materials, helps saturate our community with assets and the promise of optimal development. The skills gained through planning, advertising and making lemonade are only the tip of the iceberg. Youth also improve decision-making, responsibility, integrity, constructive use of time and have high expectations.

Young people, and especially young entrepreneurs, cannot thrive without support and resources from their environment. Lemonade Day seeks to build upon the fun and creativity of youth, to nurture the American Dream...one lemonade stand at a time.  Click here to learn more.

As the kids are having fun experimenting with lemonade recipes, designing and crafting a lemonade stand and selling lemonade to friends and neighbors they are learning entrepreneurial skills necessary to be successful in the future.
